Cave has announced a release date for the iOS version of Bullet hell shooter Dodonpachi: Blissful Death, arriving on the App Store from 9th February.
Known as DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou in Japan, Blissful Death is the prequel to previously-released iOS shooter DoDonPachi Resurrection. It was originally unleashed into arcades back in April 2002, with a Black Label version appearing some six months later. A Black Label Extra edition for home consoles was developed for the Xbox 360 in early 2009.

DoDonPachi Blissful Death has four difficulty levels (novice, normal, hard, and hell) and brings a new mechanic that encourages players to chain combos and collect bee tokens in order to earn hyper items, which make your ship impervious to damage and increase your effectiveness in combat. The game supports Game Center and Openfeint for high score sharing and has an option to turn weight control on and off.
Cave will release DoDonPachi Blissful Death on February 9 in English and Japanese for $4.99. This iOS revamp will run on an iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and 4th generation iPod Touch devices, as well as WiFi and WiFi+3G versions of the iPad 2.
