Numbers so far - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Written by Cristian, 18 November 2011

It´s only been one week since the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and already Bethesdas fantasy RPG has managed to break a few records and post some numbers which are worth rounding up. And that´s what were doing here, showing you the numbers depicting the success of Skyrim.

For starters we have 450 million, as in $450 million, the sum ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, expects to make from the retail sales of TES V: Skyrim. Speaking of retail, ZeniMax shipped no less than 7 million copies of Skyrim and sold more than half in the first 48 hours. In those two days following the game’s release, Steam recorded over 280,000 people playing Skyrim at the same time but the number is likely larger since it doesn’t count Xbox 360 and PS3 sessions.

The current Metacritic scores of Skyrim are 96, 95 and 94 for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 versions respectively, while 3 is the number of nominations the game has for this year’s Video Game Awards. Skyrim is fighting for the Game of the Year, Best RPG and Trailer of the Year trophies and our guess is that at least one is in the bag.

The last number in our countdown is 1 and it represents the one baby (boy) who was born on November 11th, 2011 (Skyrim’s release date) and was named Dovahkiin (Dragonborn) by his parents. The lucky parents are Megan and Eric Kellermeyer, the boy is Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer and the catch is that the family will receive free Bethesda games for life.
