Q-Games has revealed today that PixelJunk Eden, the innovative and visually intriguing title which launched in 2009 exclusively for the PS3, will now hit Steam on February 2. The Steam version will include its Encore DLC pack, which adds new levels, and the whole package will retail at $9.99.

"Steam has always been a great platform for indie games and I have admired the way they have supported non-traditional game development with titles such as Terraria, Bastion, World of Goo, etc.," Q-Games boss Dylan Cuthbert said. “When I was thinking through the catalog of PixelJunk games, Eden was the one that stood out to me as perfect for the Steam audience. The beautiful graphics and colours are striking on a PC monitor especially at higher resolutions than the standard HDTV 1080p and the game is perfect for the more point/click style that comes with mouse control” , he added.
In PixelJunk Eden living and luminous plant-life grows in real-time to form a lively stage. In this constantly evolving environment, players control a small creature called “Grimp” to explore a dynamic setting alive with color and sound. By smashing into enemies, the player releases batches of pollen that can help the lush alien plants change and grow. As they develop, players can leap, swing and soar between them to get further through the undergrowth and gather all the bundles of energy and light from the level before the time available runs out.

According to Q-Games PixelJunk Eden has been re-jigged for release on PC, with re-tuned controls and enemies. The Grimp can now warp back to his last resting position. This uses a little bit of your energy but does mean you no longer have to worry about missing an important jump. Additionally, you can now save your progress in each garden, so you can just start from the last Spectra you grabbed when you go back in.
Along with PixelJunk Eden and its expansion, Steam will also be selling the game’s 17-song soundtrack for $5.99. During its first week on Steam, Q-Games will be running a sale that gives 20% off everything.
