Valve has finally released Dota 2, making it fully available for anyone to download on Steam as a free-to-play title. The developer said in an announcement that Dota 2‘s monthly user base is larger than 3 million players, with peak concurrent users surpassing 300,000. Valve says its expanded backend infrastructure is capable of hosting an additional 450,000 concurrent users.

As a result Dota 2 will be opened in waves to the general public. To get in on the action, you’ll need to visit Steam and click the “Get Dota 2″ button. You’ll be added to a launch queue, and emailed when a position is available for you.

Dota 2 is currently available only for Windows PC, but Mac and Linux versions of the game are in testing and will be available “soon.”
