Nidhogg, the game described as “a 2 player fencing game with football & platforming elements” that has won the Nuovo Award at 2011 IGF, will launch on the PC (most likely via Steam) later this year, according to developer Messhof.

The long-in-development will reportedly come home in an evolved form, featuring new combat moves and online multiplayer. You’ll have the ability to dive kick, crawl, wall jump and roll under opponents and snap their necks in hand-to-hand combat once swords have been exhausted.

A single-player mode against AI opponents and the possibility of new weapons are also in the works.
